The Blue Period

characters The Blue Period review The Blue Period 103 Luke Jerod Kummer ✓ 3 free read Maine will lead to a devastating turn Amid soul searching and despair however Picasso discovers a color palette in which to render his demons and paint himself into lasting historyBringing the exuberance of the era vividly to life this richly imagined portrait of Picasso’s coming of age intertwines the love death lust and friendships that inspired the immortal works of a defiant mast. An entertaining work of historical fiction which I enjoyed once I relaxed into it and stopped worrying about how historically accurate it was I felt that overall it was true to the spirit of the characters and the age and gave a vivid portrait of artistic life in Paris and Barcelona It follows Picasso s early years as he struggled to establish himself as an artist and chronicles his friendship wait Casagemas and the two men s tempestuous relationship with Germaine and the tragic outcome The book managed to convey Picasso s emotional turmoil and demonstrates how this manifested itself in his art in particular that time we know now as the Blue Period The author has obviously done his research and the novel felt authentic and convincing There are plenty of books about Picasso and I feel this one can justifiably take its place amongst them in giving another perspective on Picasso s coming of age
